This contribution allows you to ask your customers on signup where they heard about your site, giving a dropdown selection which you can add referral sites to or remove from via admin. If a customer selects "Other" there is also a text field where they can then type in the site which referred them. However it gets even more advnaced than that, as if the customer is visiting your site after clicking an affiliate link to you, then the affiliate id is registered at this stage. Within the admin panel, as mentioned above, you have full control over which options appear in the customers options, as well as detailed reporting on each referral source which can be broken down to any specific time period you requirefor more detailed analysis. Who is this particularly useful for? It is an excellent way to track where your customers who spend are coming from, which can then assist when you are deciding where the bulk of your marketing budget should go - if you are spending a large amount of money with one particular advertisement campaign and this report shows that you are getting no paying visitors, then you are able to react and monitor the situation much more quickly, and you have the evidence to make informed choices.
